Do any of these situations feel familiar?
Fatigue:
If you’re like many of our clients, you could use more energy. You need coffee to get going in the morning and could use it again to get you through the afternoon. Whether you toss and turn throughout the night or crash as soon as your head hits the pillow, you do not wake up in the morning feeling refreshed and ready for your day. Regardless of what you do or how much sleep you get, you are tired most of the time.
Depression, Anxiety, or Stress:
Maybe you have the blues and find yourself turning down social engagements to stay at home. Or perhaps you feel like you’re just going through the motions- not too high, not too low, just kind of ‘blah’. At other times, the anxiety gets you like a free floating fear that you can’t get a handle on.
And then there’s stress. Life is just so overwhelming and it takes a lot out of you just to “deal”. You feel stressed out most of the time. You think back to the days when life was less of a struggle.. lighter.. and wonder if your best days are behind you. You long to feel happy and at peace.
Weight Gain or Inability to Lose Weight:
Whether you’ve tossed up your hands and given up; Or you’ve jumped on every new fad diet that has come your way; Or you’re doing everything ‘right’ and the weight still isn’t coming off… You are exhausted with the weight battle that you’ve intimately known for as long as you can remember. The scale is not budging and your pants are still tight. You long to feel good in your body.
Digestive Distress:
You’ve lived with gas, bloating and indigestion for so long that it’s become your ‘normal’. Whether you have constipation or diarrhea- easy, complete, bowel movements are not something you experience. You reach for clothes that ‘give’ to make room for your upset belly more often than you’d like to admit. And even though you try not to focus on it too much, you realize when you get really honest with yourself that you are miserable.
PMS and Painful Periods:
½ the month is normal, and then you feel like a force takes over for the other ½.
Your breasts are tender, your belly’s bloated, and your food cravings are out of control. You feel irritable and teary, and just so.. sensitive. When your period comes, your day revolves around getting home to your pj’s and couch. “Is this normal?”, you wonder.
Menopause:
You kind of laugh to yourself because you always knew that this phase of life would come. But you didn’t think it would be so bad… for you. The warm flashes and night sweats are awful, but you’re finding a way to get through them. But the big wad of hair in the bathtub drain and the fact that your skin seems to have aged years overnight is pretty concerning. “There’s gotta be something I can do”, you think.
Infertility:
You never thought this would be your story, but… it is. If you’re like many of my patients, you’ve been longing to be a mother since you were a little girl. Now the timing is right and you’ve been “trying” for what seems like forever. You start each month fresh- hoping and wishing that this month will be different. But month after month when your period comes, you re-experience the disappointment all over again. People are talking “IVF” but you really don’t want to go down that road. You know deep down that your body is capable and think that “there has to be a more natural way”.
Thyroid:
You could’ve sworn you’d find something ‘off’ when your doctor ran your thyroid labs. But.. all was ‘normal’. So you wonder then why you’re still experiencing all the symptoms of hypothyroid? Your hair is thinning, you’re always cold, you walk into a room and forget why you’re there, and you simply can’t lose weight no matter what you do. Surely, there has to be something wrong. Right?
Adrenal Fatigue:
You’ve read about adrenal fatigue. Or perhaps been diagnosed with it. Maybe you’ve made lifestyle changes and taken supplements for it but… you can’t say you’ve noticed much change. The constant state of fatigue, inability to wake up in the morning, frequent overwhelm, inability to ‘deal’ with life, the feeling that you’ve lost your spark, your ambition, your interest in socializing. The deep fatigue certainly makes life more difficult to enjoy.
Weak Immune System, Allergies:
You seem to either get every cold and flu that comes around or you get one long one that takes you weeks or months to knock out. Allergy season is difficult to get through- the constant sneezing, watery eyes and nose, stuffy head, feeling dazed and tired. You’re not ‘sick’ enough to take off work, but you feel awful, all of the time. And it last for months…
Autoimmune:
Perhaps you’re like many of my patients who have been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease: Hashimoto’s, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Crohn’s, Celiac, Fibromyalgia, Type 1 Diabetes, Interstitial Cystitis, Psoriasis, to name a few… Your doctor didn’t leave you with much hope. And you’ve come to realize that western medicine has little to offer other than a lifelong medication to manage your symptoms. Deep down, you know there has to be a better solution.
